TWO FACED

The Two Faced series of images is my personal take on a body of work produced in the 1970s and 1980s by Robert Heineken. Utilizing a large-format color enlarger, Heineken tore pages from fashion magazine, placing them on a sheet of color print paper, then activating the light from the enlarger to produce a double image from both sides of the page. I find it fascinating that two images overlayed in the process create entirely new narratives that the single images could never convey by themselves. Body parts contort and twist, causing visual push-pulls.
